Picturesque Old Town Frederick
Sunday, September 16, 2012 | 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
Join us on this Safari to the historic old town of Frederick, MD, the “city of clustered spires,” only 40 minutes from DC. Professional photographer and enthusiastic photo instructor Judy Reisman will help you capture the special architecture and ambiance of Frederick’s lively historic district, which offers a treasure trove of stately architecture, gentrified storefronts, fine antiquing and trendy boutiques. The sidewalk displays of antique and vintage furniture make excellent subjects for still lifes and abstract images.
Our walking Safari will include church facades and their spires, public and church gardens and the city’s famous trompe l’oeuil murals, as well as the facades of elegant townhomes, many with elaborate iron work and attractively decorated door fronts. We will end up at picturesque Baker Park featuring a handsome stone carillon and Victorian gazebo, as well as the lovely weeping willows lining Carroll Creek.
