YOU! YES! YOU can learn to take better pictures than your parents! Bring your phone or camera and join us on this fun-filled safari to some of the best historic picture-taking spots in Washington: the climb-on Albert Einstein Memorial, the awe-inspiring Lincoln Memorial, the powerful Vietnam and Korean War Memorials, and the view of the Washington Monument down the Reflecting Pool…If you are a kid with a phone or a camera, this Safari is for YOU!
Architectural photographer (AND Fun King ) E. David Luria, (who was once a KID himself), will teach you tricks of how to:
- take posed pictures of people you know,
- take wild, crazy unposed pictures of your friends,
- take sneaky pictures of people you do NOT know,
- use your kid imagination for unusual photos of stupid stuff, like leaves and shadows
- take pictures that tell a story
- make your pictures so interesting that your friends will want to look at them,
- get in low and close, using the fact that you are ALREADY SHORT for BETTER pictures than grown-ups who are TALL!
We will start this Safari on the giant 12- foot tall Albert Einstein Memorial with a group picture of all of you sitting on Albert’s lap, or whispering into his ear, or arguing with him about physics, or just rubbing his nose for good luck. (It is a well- known fact that getting this close to Albert Einstein makes you smarter!)
We will also teach you to take the best pictures of:the faces of the Three Servicemen Statue as the three soldiers gaze and see their own names on the Vietnam Memorial wall,
- the individual hands of the Lincoln Statue that tell a story of how he held the Union together and freed the slaves
- the haunted faces of 19 young soldiers at the Korean War Memorial, all of them afraid of getting shot at any moment
- you, appearing to hold up the distant 550-foot tall Washington Monument in the palm of your hand
Designed for kids ages 6-14, any phone or camera is fine for this safari. (Parents are invited at no charge as guardians and observers.)
