Barns, Farms and Covered Bridges of Frederick County, MD
Spend the day in Frederick County, MD photographing barns and covered bridges.
Morning visits will include horse farms, a repurposed 1950’s general store, with memorabilia on the front porch and Daisy Mae, a rusting old red pickup. We will also shoot inside an old barn that contains all sorts of old farm tools.
In the afternoon, we will photograph some of the buildings on the Monocacy Battlefield and an old cemetery overlooking a large, well-preserved wood barn with endless photographic possibilities for abstracts and textures. We then make a loop through the verdant rolling hills and upper farmland of Frederick County to shoot the three very picturesque extant covered bridges and the creeks they cross.
There are also several other stops to shoot barns and picturesque landscapes.
Photography techniques taught on this Safari will include abstracts, telephoto, landscapes and creative use of light for good composition.

After a 20-year career as a technical translator for the World Bank, Judy Reisman turned to photography full-time, switching from writing with words to writing with light. Teaching at the Washington School of Photography brought her joy in sharing her passion for photography with others as well as accolades from her students. She now hosts photo tours in Frederick County and in the Shenandoah Valley for the Washington Photo Safari and does pet and people portraiture and fine-art nature prints for private clients as well as private tutoring. Judy is a very enthusiastic instructor who tries to accommodate the instructional needs of all participants, regardless of where they are in their photographic journey.
